After Kathmandu, your adventure continues with a visit to Chitwan National Park and Pokhara, where you’ll explore Nepal’s rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes:

  • Chitwan National Park Safari: Embark on a thrilling jeep safari to spot wildlife, including rhinos, tigers, and elephants in their natural habitat. Experience the serenity of the Rapti River with a peaceful boat ride.
  • Pokhara – Adventure Awaits: A nature lover’s paradise, Pokhara offers opportunities for boating on Phewa Lake, visiting the World Peace Pagoda, and hiking to the Sarangkot Viewpoint for breathtaking views of the Himalayas.

Week 03-06: Volunteering – Make a Real Impact in Local Communities

Now comes the heart of your trip — a volunteering program where you’ll contribute your time, skills, and energy to help build sustainable communities. Over four weeks, you’ll focus on teaching and community-based development, making a lasting impact.

Teaching in Local Schools:

You’ll teach English to children in rural schools, helping them improve their language skills and broaden their knowledge of the world. This week, you’ll work closely with local teachers and play a key role in creating an engaging learning environment. Your lessons may also include arts, sports, and hands-on activities, giving the children a chance to learn through play.

Community Development Projects:

Aside from teaching, you’ll engage in community-based activities focused on:

  • Health and Hygiene: Raising awareness about sanitation, clean water, and basic healthcare practices.
  • Women’s Empowerment: Working on programs that teach women new skills, enhance their self-confidence, and create better opportunities for economic independence.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Supporting local initiatives like tree planting, waste management, or eco-tourism to help maintain Nepal’s natural beauty.

Your contribution will directly affect the lives of those who need it most, offering you a sense of fulfillment while empowering local communities to thrive.

Howdy gang, this last month has been more than I could have hoped for. All you guys here with the program have been so warm and friendly I was contently a little nervous and overwhelmed when I first arrived in Nepal, but now as I am about to leave, I feel like more than a guest I found passing through while working in the hospital. I have learned so much about the people here. This experience has encouraged me to work to return again. Everyone here is so lucky and lovely to live in such beautiful place. I will miss a lot of old things about Nepal. Specially the namaste greetings from the Didi each day at the house any one of you is always welcome at my home in Utah, USA.

Gap Year Nepal, The things I have experienced since I joined this wonderful team of people are exceptional. You give people the opportunity to rise above themselves, volunteers and locals alike, and together achieve something unparalleled. Thank you so much for making that happen. You guys and we all together rock!
