GapYearNepal internship placements are designed to facilitate a better understanding of the situations faced by people who live in a developing country, and now – thanks to the wonders of modern technology – these internships can be completed virtually! As a part of the virtual internship, participants are paired with an organization in Nepal that matches the participant’s own goals and aspirations. Once placement has been made, the participant will receive assignments that can be completed remotely – with the guidance of local mentors, as needed. Utilizing your Nepali mentors will be instrumental in learning and gaining an understanding of Nepal customs and culture, and will help you to better support the Nepali organizations.
Gap Year Nepal Virtual Internships are meant for the college students. The internship is about getting experience without physically presenting at the work location allowing the time flexibility. It further helps the student to fit into a busy college schedule without commuting to a specific location or the necessity of having to live in a certain geographical location.

Modern technology has completely transformed peoples’ way of life and way of learning. Internships done remotely can provide all of the same benefits as those done more traditionally – when utilizing all of the proper, available resources. In fact, remote internships even allow for greater emphasis on certain skills that students may not think about when participating in a traditional internship; skills such as accountability, flexibility, and self-discipline. Remote internships require participants to be much more self-aware and able to properly budget their own time so as to accomplish tasks in a timely – and more creative manner! Continuous contact with and supervision by Nepali mentors will help participants stay on track with internship goals.
We always encourage the Interns for the first few months to work remotely and travel to the Host country and also get the experience of being there in the organization. This can be very effective in verifying oneself about the learning that one made during offshore internships. GapYearNepal helps in organizing the suitable homestays that helps you for quicker cultural immersion and it controls the Internships cost effectively. Staying with family makes you feel at home and you get a good opportunity to learn new culture.
The minimum length of the Program is 4 weeks.
For 4 Weeks: US$ 1250
FURTHER Every 2 week USS 400
Yes of course, you are continuously in touch with the local mentors; the Interns are continuously supervised if they are deviating from the Internship goals. The mentors in GapYearNepal are aware about the continuous supervision and controls.
The International internships in with the organizations in the developing countries broaden the horizons of learning. The exposure to the working environments and new culture makes one flexible and integrative which are basics in career building.
Over the last month, I’ve really enjoyed working with virtually VolNepal and GapYearNepal, truly expanding my knowledge and social media marketing skills. It’s amazing how even from America, I’m able to work internationally with companies striving for a good cause. Everyone is so kind and flexible and I've never had a problem with communication as well. We meet about once a week and discuss some of the Instagram and Facebook posts made for the week and how we can improve to make more of an impact, while continuing to challenge myself. The time difference has also never been a problem as while it’s 11 A.M. here, it’s about 8:45 PM in Nepal and both Santosh and Shiva are also very accommodating, especially with my college schedule. Working through this internship, I am always encouraged and supported with the goals I'd like to achieve and am really glad I decided to work with VolNepal. COVID-19 seemed to place many barriers, yet we're still able to meet and work together very easily and am excited to see how I continue to grow in the future."
“Becoming an online intern for VolNepal was a fantastic experience that I did not expect. From the very first moment I started working with them, they were highly attentive to my past experiences and what I wanted to accomplish, combining the two to give me a chance to develop my professional skills. Having noted that I was interested in education, they encouraged me in designing several English-language workshops, as well as allowing me to help out with the International Schools Partnership. Not only were these useful experiences, but they were also mindful at the speed which I was introduced to new projects, making sure that I could handle the workload. On top of that, they were also very accommodating of my schedule, scheduling our weekly meetings around anything that might pop up, and taking in mind my exam period. During our meetings, they were understanding and supportive of my efforts, and were quick to answer any questions I had, no matter how big or small. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who asked - it is both a great experience, and for a worthwhile cause.”
An internship with VolNepal is an exciting opportunity to further improve your research skills, and a wonderful chance to develop your knowledge about Nepal. The team and Mr. Shiva are very helpful, inspiring and encouraging, making the research interesting and diverse. The benefits of a virtual internship is that it is more flexible, yet you can participate in very important work from a distance. As a student, this internship has been of great experience to me, and it really is an amazing opportunity to balance your studies with important work and training. I really enjoyed working with the team on these important topics, and they were great in giving guidance and support. I am very grateful to have had this opportunity.
